Initially developed for heavy industry tapping applications, Yamwa HVSP helical taps with oxidizing surface treatment (OX), are now successfully used also in general mechanical machining for ISO P and ISO M1 materials.
HVSP taps feature a special ”heel” design on the cutting edges. This design prevents chips from getting caught between the thread crest and the cut material during reversal, thereby preventing chipping. Their unique BLF geometry and flute design improve chip evacuation, even in deep holes, while the overall geometry and OX surface treatment ensure an excellent thread finish.
Yamawa has recently added the HVPO taps to its existing HV series. HVPO are spiral pointed taps for through-holes and are extremely effective and stable in chip evacuation. The chamfer, combined with the optimal flute design, facilitates the formation of very curled chips that are easy to evacuate and reduces the risk of chipping.
HVPO taps produce high-precision and well-finished threads under all feed conditions (both on conventional and non-conventional machines). Thanks to their optimized flute design, this range of taps performs exceptionally well even with long-chipping steel, whether using oil or emulsion. Furthermore, HVPO taps enable reduced torque compared to conventional spiral pointed taps, leading to more stable processes and longer tool life.
